I have just implemented it as a search tool for Movable Type. It is working great. You will soon see it powering sites like www.gizmodo.com, www.gawker.com, www.wonkette.com, and www.cmswire.com. I did run across an issue with the Index::Writer falling over after about 350 documents. But if I clear and reinstantiate about every 300, I was able to get about 20k blog posts in the the various indicies. I'll post more on that error once I have time to debug again. In the meantime thank you all very much and great job with porting Lucene. It chugs away for a few seconds, but ultimately the record still exists. This is causing me problems, as I need to update the index in place without rebuilding it (it takes 3 hours to rebuild). Here's the relevant info: $reader->delete_term( Plucene::Index::Term->new({ 'field'=>'family_id', 'text'=>$fid})); I know that $fid is correct because it prints right above this line. If I run my updater, records that were supposed to be removed then added back in just end up in there twice. Is there something more that I need to do? Do I have to close the reader before the writer starts its job?
